ABOUT OUR ACNE COMPOUND CREAM

For many, acne is more than just a pimple on the face. And for even more, over-the-counter, and even prescription acne medications just don’t do the trick. Acne is a condition of the skin in which a person’s pores get blocked or clogged, leading to the development of red bumps or blackheads forming on the skin. There are numerous causes of acne, including changes in hormone levels, bacteria, oils, and more.When compounded into a clarifying topical cream, the combination of clindamycin, benzoyl peroxide, superoxide dismutase and Vitamin D3 form a powerful prescription-grade acne-fighting solution.

COMPOUND’S ACTIVE INGREDIENTS

Clindamycin is an antibiotic, commonly used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections by stopping the growth of bacteria. Benzoyl Peroxide is used to treat mild to moderate acne. In this case, it works alongside other ingredients to maximize therapeutic benefit. Benzoyl Peroxide causes the skin to dry and peel by reducing the amount of acne-causing bacteria present. Benzoyl peroxide has been proven effective in reducing acne lesions, and has a bactericidal effect on the specific bacteria associated with acne without the causing antibiotic resistance

An enzyme found in all living cells, Superoxide Dismutase is widely recognized as a means to reduce free radical damage to skin. Superoxide dismutase is taken by mouth for removing wrinkles, rebuilding tissue, and extending the length of life, and works by helping break down potentially harmful oxygen molecules in cells, which might prevent damage to tissues.

If you suffer from acne, a vitamin D deficiency may be linked to your symptoms. Over the years, researchers have established a continuously stronger link between vitamin D levels and acne. While clinical studies have not looked at this specifically, the Vitamin D Council states that “lack of sunlight may increase acne, and some people notice their acne worsening during the winter and improving during the summer”. Many dermatologists agree with these observations, and due to a synergistic effect in which Vitamin D3 combined with other ingredients works better than D3 or the other ingredients alone, physicians commonly include Vitamin D3 into their compounded solutions for acne.

TOPICAL ACNE MEDICATION: INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Use as instructed by your physician. Generally, apply the medication to the areas of your skin affected by acne. Avoid getting this medication into your eyes, inside your nose or mouth, or on any areas of broken skin since it may cause irritation. If this occurs, flush the area with plenty of water. This compound may bleach hair or fabrics. Use carefully, and avoid contact with hair, clothing, and furnishings.

If using cleansers containing benzoyl peroxide, wet the affected area. Gently rub the cleanser into the skin for 10-20 seconds. Work into a full lather and rinse thoroughly and then pat dry. If too much drying occurs, you may need to rinse the cleanser off sooner or use it less often. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for further details.

If you are using the liquid wash, cleansing pad, or cleanser bar, use it instead of soap once or twice a day. Wet the skin before applying, gently work up a lather for 10 to 20 seconds, and rinse thoroughly. Do not scrub the skin.

SIDE EFFECTS OF ACNE CREAM COMPOUND:

While rare with topical application, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Allergic reactions like rash or itching, may occur. With some ingredients, skin reactions such as peeling, irritation, and reddened skin may occur, especially at the start of treatment. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. You may need to apply smaller amounts of the drug or use it less often. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details.

Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: heartburn, joint pain/swelling, yellowing eyes/skin, dark urine.

PRECAUTIONS WITH COMPOUNDED ACNE CREAM:

Before using this compound medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to any medications, particularly those this compound is made of. Talk to your pharmacist for more details. If your condition persists or worsens, or if you think you may have a serious medical problem, get medical help right away.

ACNE CREAM OVERDOSE:

If someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing, call 911. Otherwise, call a poison control center right away. US residents can call their local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Canada residents can call a provincial poison control center.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I MISS A DOSE?

Take your next dose of the medication as soon as you remember unless it is close to your next dose.  In that case, skip the dose and resume your scheduled dose. Never double your dose.

Store it in a cool and dry place.  Avoid direct sunlight and make sure it is stored in a safe place away from children
